Story

RIGATONI - ID#A044426

Hi, my name is RIGATONI.  I am a male, gray Domestic Shorthair.  The shelter staff think I am about 4 months old.  Rigatoni, nickname Tony, is the last kitty of the Italian pasta litter.  His siblings Tortellini, Fettuccine, and Macaroni have already found loving homes.  Trapped on the street about two weeks after the others, he needed extra time and medical attention.  Now healthy and playful, but still wary and cautious about the world, he needs a patient, calm, loving and quiet home.  Tony loves to birdwatch, play by himself and with you.  He will chase a stick or string around and around like a racer, and he even has racing  stripes on the soft fur on his back.  He loves to leap on his toys, chase balls like a soccer player, and will continually amuse you with his antics.  Loud noises are scary, but playful sounds entice him to play and play.

Rarely Tony uses hissing as a defense when scared, but with a slow careful approach he is fine, and will enjoy your petting him and begin to purr loudly.  He never bites or scratches, and will stop hissing as he continues to learn to trust and blossom.

Rather than bite, Tony likes to lick his watered-down food, so sounds of slurping will accompany his meals.  He always uses his litter box.  His world has been slowly expanding, and his explorations are fun to watch. Tony is a sweet boy, so after a getting-to-know-you time, his cuddles will be warm and happy.   With this adoption you will receive a photo book showing the time Tony spent in foster care, like a baby book.  He just needs a chance.

 STARTING THE ADOPTION PROCESS:

Please review our adoption criteria before submitting your application!

Welcome to the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter

  • An application must be submitted prior to an interaction with one of our animals.  This offers us the opportunity to start you in the right direction in looking for a new pet.
  • We may take multiple applications on the animals, and do not disclose the number of applications currently on file
  • Our adoption process is not first-come, first-served.  The supervisory staff reviews all applications and makes a decision that they feel is the best placement for both the animal's and the applicant's needs.
  • The timeline for the applications process on each animal can be different.  We do our best to accommodate each applicant's requirement for applications, however, an adoption approval may be made as soon as we have an applicant that meets the animal's adoption criteria and completes all required interactions.
  • All household members must interact with the animal.  We do this to ensure that all family members, and the animal you're interested in, are a match.
  • You need to be 18 years or older to complete an application.
  • We need to ensure that the cat you wish to adopt will be an indoor cat.
  • We reserve the right to deny the adoption of any pet for any reason.
  • Also any additional requirements for the specific pet you are interested in adopting needs to be met.
