Catroom Exterior

Contribute to our Furr-nishings Fund

Construction is well underway on our new shelter cat room that features 8 spacious multi-cat suites – now we need to furnish them! We’ve partnered with a local company that builds custom cat furniture to design a unique environment that allows cats to engage in activities they love – and need – to do; climbing, running, perching, sleeping, and just relaxing in a sunbeam. Each suite will feature special cat towers with ramps, beds and hiding boxes, as well as several elevated cat walks for exercising and gazing out windows.

By contributing to our “Furr-nishings Fund”, you can help give our shelter kitties a comfortable and fun-filled environment to enjoy while they wait for their forever homes.

Take a Peek at our Final Floor Plan

Good news – we’ve submitted the completed architectural plans for our shelter addition to the City of San Clemente, and once these plans are approved, we can move to the next stage of hiring a contractor and starting construction. Here’s a peek at the updated floor plan we submitted. We’re confident that this arrangement will give our shelter kitties the best chance at moving from being homeless to living in their forever home in the shortest amount of time.

City Planning Permit

Purr-fect Shelter Expansion Project Achieves Major Milestone

Who knew you could get so excited about city planning permits? Volunteers at the Pet Project Foundation and staff at the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter certainly did when the City of San Clemente granted our application for an amendment to the city’s conditional use permit and two other minor planning permits on November 3. Granting of these permits means we can now engage an architect to finalize all detailed engineering and construction drawings. Once those drawings have been completed and the necessary building permits granted, then we can hire a contractor and break ground! We are targeting our ground breaking to occur sometime in 2Q 2011. We’ll keep you posted.

It’s a Sell-out!

Fantastic news for our Purr-fect shelter campaign – we’ve sold all 8 of the Kitty Suite commemorative naming opportunities that were available for our planned cat room addition. But we’ve still got $100,000 to raise, so if you were planning to sponsor one of our campaign naming opportunities – fear not – a number of others still remain. You could be the proud sponsor of our Kitty Kitchen, Adoption Meet & Greet Room, Kitty Care Island, or one of our Kitty Kottages.
