12th Annual Wag-A-ThonSM

ANOTHER SUCCESS STORY FOR THE WAG-A-THON

Under cloudy skies and cool weather, the 12th annual Wag-a-Thon was held in beautiful Dana Point Harbor. Thousands of people with one, two or even more dogs in tow paraded, visited the bazaar, ate snacks, hot dogs, drank water and thoroughly enjoyed the event. The day was filled with contests, entertainment and lots of socializing between humans and dogs. The many dogs in a variety of sizes from miniature to huge, pranced, sniffed and downed doggie cookies being given away. Scrapper, the celebrity dog, posed like a gentleman to have his picture taken over and over again with Wag participants. Bonnie Bora, who raised $2,300 in pledges and won first prize, got quite an ear nibble from Scrapper.

To the 175+ volunteers
You! You did it! What you ask? You made calls, solicited gifts and sponsors, baked, made nametags, wrote articles, ordered signs, stuffed goody bags, put up fencing, loaded trucks, distributed brochures, kept track of income and expenses, made maps, worked the Street Faire, produced a database of participants. And on a day full of wagging dogs in Dana Point Harbor, you parked cars; greeted, admitted, and ushered participants; cooked hotdogs; manned booths; ran the pet contests and doggie dashes; pet sat; provided security; distributed shirts and goody bags; hung banners and signs; provided water for the dogs; took pictures; picked up poop and trash; took down fencing. And you did it all with a smile. And you did it for the animals. And I thank you. - Paula Becker, Chairperson 2005 Wag-A-Thon
