L'Hirondell Restaurant hosts its 10th Annual Family and Pets Patio Party
By Ruth Rosen

Ali Golesorkhi, owner of this French restaurant, graciously opened his patio to guests with their dogs for Chardonnay and lunch. Over 50 guests and 21 dogs attended this fundraiser for Pet Project Foundation. Funds raised for the support of this San Clemente-Dana Point pro-humane shelter and our community's homeless animals were approximately $4885, making it quite a successful event.

Some of the many dogs attending were former shelter dogs, such as Baxter who was rescued from a shelter where he was scheduled to be euthanized. Baxter came to the San Clemente-Dana Point shelter under a third chance program whereby animals from other shelters are given another chance at life and adoption.

While the dogs munched on biscuits donated by Karen Kulik, Carolyn Miller and Joy Woodson entertained the guests with their rendition of "How much is that doggie in the window". Kudos to all who helped make this a successful event: Pamela Schuler, chairperson and coordinator; Nancy Gonzalez, co-chairperson; Bob and Paula Becker, auctioneers; Evy Rose, Eliot Sukowski, Kathleen Morea and Maria Mitchell, food servers.

A special thank you to all our donors: Aussie Pet Mobile & Grooming, Camino Playhouse, Chocolate Soldier, Clair Burke, Margaret Hannan, Harborside Restaurant, Jon's Fish Market, Virginia Kenworth, Bob & Jan Lane, L'Hirondelle, Longs Drugs, Kathleen Morea, Ocean Institute, Ortega Trading Post, Stan & Glenda Rosen, Sarducci's Capstrano Depot, Chuck & Francine Simpson, Trader Joe's, Turk's, and Zia Jewelry
