Just a short note to let you all know that Harley is doing great. She got her license last Monday and got a new tag with my name and phone number on it. Petco is the proud owner of almost $300.00 - I had to get every toy they had (all safe) and I got two large bags of the same dog food she was eating at the shelter.
Tonight she let me vacuum her - and that was the first time she let me. She started sleeping with me three days ago - I wanted to build up some trust that she wouldn't shred things or have an accident. So far she hasn't had one problem with the house breaking stuff and she goes out to play in the back yard 3 to 4 times a day with me and also goes for long walks with me.
We've bonded real well and she likes to snuggle next to me in bed, then stretch out and push me to the edge of the bed. She is always happy - as it should be. She never gets punished - I believe training can be accomplished with love (and a few treats) and never use punishment.
I still feel very lucky to have her with me and I think she feels that way too. Hopefully she will have a very long and happy life and be my best friend. She only goes outside when she wants to or when we are going to play or for a walk.
The rest of the time she is with me. This was a match made in heaven - thanks again. Dennis
