Email from Erica - Nautis' new
owner
I wanted to give the generous people at the San Clemente Animal Shelter and update on our "happy ending" with Nautis.
I had been searching for the perfect "canine counterpart" to our family for some time; before walking into the SC shelter and falling in love at first sight by the astounding beauty of this Siberian husky. Although warned of bolting and high energy from huskies, we proceeded to request that Nautis be allowed to be a part of our family and were granted permission to be his "human counterparts" just over a week ago.
From the first time I opened our front door for him, to now he has been a delight! We have some hurdles to get over, (like interaction with our cats, digging and the occasional trash snooping, {nothing an obedience class can't correct]), but other than that he has turned out to be such a blessing to our family. He is adjusting well, behaving excellently and has brought such happiness to us. He gets two walks a day, walks perfectly with his gentle leader, even so much that my 3 year old could handle him and has already gotten his first bath. He lazes in our back yard with his new favorite bone, all the while the hustle and bustle of our family life continues, only to be enhanced by his presence. He listens contently next to my daughter's bed as her bedtime stories are read to her and sleeps at the foot of my bed, although there have been a couple of times I've awoken to a sleeping pup right next to me. Fine by me!
My mother, who up until this point has been indifferent to the canine species, finds herself buying gourmet doggie treats and greeting Nautis before she says hello to us! What a difference Nautis has made!
So....from the bottom of our hearts, thank you, thank, thank you! We couldn't be more grateful for allowing us the privilege of being Nautis' family.
Please enjoy the pictures attached, as they are the first for our family album that will now include Nautis.
